Ventura Realtor – It’s truly an honor to be a Ventura Realtor, helping homeowners and buyers achieve their real estate goals. Ventura is more than a beautiful coastal city in California. It’s more than the home of the historic Mission San Buenaventura, San Buenaventura Beach, and departing ports for the Channel Islands National Park. Its beaches are more than just a popular spot for surfing and enjoying the sun’s sweet rays. Ventura is our home and is a big part of our heart.
That said, when it came to planning out blog ideas as a Ventura Realtor, we wanted to tie something about Ventura and Real Estate together. Having sold many homes and helping many buyers find their perfect property, in Ventura, CA – we wanted to discuss something that captivates both buyers and sellers – so, we wanted to discuss what is one of the greatest things buyers and sellers have in common when it comes to real estate?
Well, when home buyers are house hunting in Ventura, location isn’t the only thing they consider. In fact, as a Ventura Realtor, I’d have to say that the deciding factor for a home buyer when house hunting is finding a property that they can imagine themselves and their family living in. Accordingly, as sellers, part of our job is to create a listing that helps buyers imagine themselves in the property.
The quickest way to prevent a house hunter imagine themselves living in a listing is by filling the property with clutter. As a Ventura Realtor we’ve seen it all – and while one man’s clutter may be an organized mess, it can be a chaotic environment for another.
So, as your Ventura Realtor, whether you’re listing your home or looking to get a jump start in spring cleaning, here are our top three tips for decluttering:
1) Embrace and/or pull from the KonMari method. If you’ve never read Mari Kondo’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” or watched her Netflix show, “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” – we strongly recommend it. In basic terms, the KonMari method is about simplifying and organizing your home by eliminating all items that do not “spark” joy into your life. To elaborate on this, the idea is to get rid of all items that no longer are of value or bring joy.
2) If the task of decluttering is overwhelming, then first consider the benefits. If you’re listing or planning to list your home, decluttering is one of the least expensive, yet most effective ways to sell your home for the greatest return and in the shortest time. (On a side note, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re looking for a Ventura Realtor). Additionally, if you’re looking to declutter, just to declutter, then take note that study after study has confirmed that living in a decluttered environment helps reduce stress, decrease debts, increase motivation and clarity, as well as improve one’s mind, body, and soul. Second, remember that you don’t have to start and finish all in one sitting. Rather, you can take KonMari’s method and declutter all items under a single category (i.e. all clothing at once), or start with one area of your home and once complete, move to the next. Doing so, keep in mind, “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” – Lao Tzu. In other words, even if you declutter one spot at a time, taking one step at a time, eventually, you’ll reach your end goal – a decluttered home.
3) Albert Einstein, once said, “Out of clutter find simplicity; from discord find harmony; in the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.” With that and building off the previous tips, consider putting aside some time, taking one step at a time, looking at each item you own. What no longer serves you, brings you value, or sparks joy, should be placed in one of three piles: (1) Trash; (2) Donate so it may bring another value; or (3) Sell so you can earn money. As you declutter more and more, you’ll gain a greater sense of clarity and purpose. You’ll notice less stress. And in the process, you’ll find yourself with more available time to take advantage of all the beauties our City has to offer.
Perhaps you’ll have time to walk down Ventura Pier. Perhaps you can meet some friends at one of our sought after and delicious restaurants.
